An online spiritual group led by Amy Carlson, who called herself "Mother God," whose 2021 death drew national attention to the group's beliefs and practices.
Amy Carlson began building an online following in the 2010s, eventually declaring herself a divine being — “Mother God” — at the center of a small live-in community that relocated between several U.S. states. Former members have described extreme dietary restrictions, colloidal-silver ingestion, and psychological control within the group.
In April 2021, Carlson was found dead at the group’s residence in Colorado; her body reportedly showed signs of prolonged neglect, and members had reportedly delayed reporting her death. No criminal charges tied directly to her death were ultimately filed. The case and group were documented in the 2023 HBO Max documentary “Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God.”
